Certified, trauma-informed grief coaching in Manchester
Life After Loss is a six-week grief coaching course that helps you understand what grief is doing to you, find what steadies you, and learn to carry the loss alongside your life. Join live in a small online group, or take the same six weeks one-to-one with Steve.
Book a small group place (£129) or one-to-one with Steve (£290). The chat is free and open to anyone working through grief.
Grieving a pet rather than a person? There's a dedicated six-week pet loss course.

What this is
Losing someone changes everything, quietly, and there isn't always somewhere to put that. Not everyone needs (or wants) clinical treatment. Sometimes what helps most is a steady, structured space to talk it through, alongside other people who understand without needing it explained.
Life After Loss runs over six weekly sessions, each with a clear focus: understanding your grief, how it shows up in your body and mind, balancing grieving with living, staying connected to the person you've lost, rebuilding who you are, and moving forward with hope. It's built on the STILL Method, a trauma-informed framework for understanding what's happening in your body and mind after loss. Grief doesn't move in a straight line. This won't make the waves stop, but it will help you ride them instead of being pulled under.
Steve is a STILL Method certified Life After Loss Grief Coach, trained on a course accredited by ACCPH and IPHM. He's based in Manchester and every session is delivered live online, so you can join from wherever you feel most comfortable, anywhere in Greater Manchester or the UK, without a commute on an evening when you haven't got it in you.
If you're weighing this up against counselling or therapy, there's more on grief support in Manchester and how to tell which one you need.
What you'll leave with
Six weeks, six practical tools you've tried for yourself, not just heard about:
- A map of your grief: your own picture of how your grief rises and falls, and what makes the waves bigger or smaller.
- Grounding techniques for hard moments: effective ways to steady yourself when a wave catches you off guard.
- A way to balance grieving and living: the see-saw model, and permission to move between the two without guilt.
Two ways to work with Steve
Life After Loss in a small group
£129 including VAT
Six live online sessions, one a week, about an hour each, with the same small group throughout. Best if hearing from others who understand sounds like a relief. Paid in full at booking.
Life After Loss one-to-one
£290 including VAT
Six hour-long sessions, one a week, privately with Steve and shaped around you as you go. Best if you'd rather not share in a group, or want sessions at a time that suits you. We aim to start within a week of you getting in touch.
How Life After Loss works
1. Book your place
Choose a small group or one-to-one. Group places are booked and paid online; one-to-one starts with a short conversation with Steve.
2. Join six weekly sessions
Live online from wherever you feel most comfortable, about an hour, at the same time each week, with your small group or with Steve.
3. Leave with a toolkit
Six tools you've practised, a short reflection prompt each week (no marking, nothing to hand in), and a clear next step.
A steady space to talk, at a pace that doesn't rush you.
No pressure to be further along than you are. No timeline for "moving on." Whether that's a group of people who understand or an hour with Steve's full attention, it's a structure that holds while you need it, and tools that stay with you after.
When the six weeks end
Grief doesn't wrap up in six weeks. If you'd like continued support, optional monthly one-to-one sessions with Steve are available for up to a year, following a set path: settling in, going deeper, building forward and standing strong. There's no pressure to continue; stepping back after six weeks is a good outcome too.
